Melville House Fire 11/04/2021

On Thursday, November 4th at 12:15a, the Melville Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a house fire on Wolf Hill Rd. 2nd Assistant Chief Bernfeld [2-5-32] was quickly on scene with smoke from an attached garage and reactivated the alarm as a Working Fire. Engine 2-5-6 was first due and stretched the initial line through the house to begin extinguishing the large volume of fire in the garage which extended through the roof and caused a partial collapse of the garage. With the assistance of crews from Dix Hills, Huntington Manor, Plainview at least 3 lines were stretched to extinguish the main body of fire which appeared to be contained to the garage. The fire was placed under control in approximately 45 minutes under the direction of Chief of Department Kaplan [2-5-30].
