Huntington Manor House Fire 07/04/2022
On Monday July 4th at approximately 12:30a, the Huntington Manor Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire with possible people trapped on Wyoming Ave. Captain Colonna [2-4-51] was quickly on scene and transmitted a 13/35 with heavy fire on the 1st and 3rd floors of a split-level house. Captain Colonna quickly became aware of people still inside the house and without any protective equipment, he entered the house, located 2 occupants whom he directed towards the door and then located and removed a 3rd occupant who had collapsed. Quint 2-4-6 was first due and made an initial push into the house to begin extinguishing the fire but with fire through the roof and structural compromise, crews transitioned to an exterior attack, stretching at least 4 lines and utilizing the ladder’s master stream to extinguish the fire. With the assistance of crews from Greenlawn, Huntington, Melville and Dix Hills, the main body of fire was knocked down in approximately 45 minutes with extensive overhaul conducted by crews on scene. All operations were under the direction of Chief of Department Brady [2-4-30].
