Hicksville House Fire 08/20/2021
On Friday, August 20th at 12:10p, the Hicksville Fire Department was dispatched to a report of an outside rubbish fire on Elwood Ave. 1st Assistant Chief Moskos [9302] was quickly on scene and transmitted a Signal 10 which was immediately upgraded to a 2nd alarm for a confirmed house fire in the rear of the house with 1 burn victim. Engine 937 was first due and stretched the initial line into the house to begin extinguishing the fire on the 1st floor and basement. In total, 3 lines were stretched to extinguish the fire with the assistance of crews from Westbury, Syosset, Bethpage, East Meadow, Levittown and Plainview. The fire was placed under control in approximately 45 minutes with 1 resident of the home transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.
