Hicksville House Fire 05/05/2022

On Thursday, May 5th just before 11:30a, while operating at an electrical problem on Lee Ave, Hicksville units were notified by a resident directly behind where they were operating of smoke coming from the baseboards. 2nd Assistant Chief Wright [9303] and Engine 932 cleared from the first scene and made their way to the house on Cottage Blvd, finding fire in the walls near the electrical meter with possible extension into the floor between the basement & 1st floor and a Signal 10 was transmitted. 1 line was stretched of Engine 932 to extinguish the main body of fire. With the assistance of crews from Bethpage, Plainview, Levittown & Syosset, the fire was knocked down in approximately 20 minutes with extensive overhaul conducted. Although believed to be electrical in nature, the cause of the fire is under investigation. All operations were under the direction of 2nd Assistant Chief Wright [9303].
