Hicksville Ambulette vs Building 01/12/2023

On Thursday, January 12th at approximately 1:25p, the Hicksville Fire Department was dispatched to a reported van vs building in the Delco Plaza shopping center on Old Country Rd. First arriving units quickly arrived on scene to find an ambulette completely into the building. Upon further assessment, the driver of the ambulette was trapped in the vehicle with the vehicle wedged against a wall. The driver was eventually assisted out of the vehicle by NCPD ESU through a passenger side door. Due to the damage and initial entrapment, Bethpage TRT was requested to the scene. After determining the structure was safe, crews remained on scene while NCPD ESU removed the vehicle from the building. The driver was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. All operations were under the direction of Chief of Department Moskos [9301].
