Manhasset Lakeville House Fire 10/25/2014
On October 25th, 2014 at approximately 11:18hrs, Companies 1, 2, 3, and 6 of the Manhasset Lakeville Fire Department were alerted to a report of a house fire with possible people trapped on Windsor Road in the village of Thomaston. Deputy Chief 8704 was first on scene and transmitted a Signal 10 (Working Fire) for a large volume of fire on the first floor of the residence. It was quickly determined that there were no occupants in the house and the first arriving fire units began exterior operations due to the large volume of fire inside the structure. Fire also extended to a neighboring house but was quickly extinguished by firefighters on scene. 3 hand lines and a ladder pipe were placed into operation to extinguish the blaze. The fire was placed under control in 3 hours.
Extensive mutual aid was requested to the scene from departments including Great Neck Alert Fire Company, Great Neck Vigilant Fire Company, Plandome Fire Department, Port Washington Fire Department, Williston Park Fire Department, Roslyn Highlands Fire Company, Floral Park Fire Department Garden City Park Fire Department, Albertson fire Department, and East Williston Fire Department.
