Great Neck Vigilant Building Fire 07/25/2022

On Monday, July 25th at just before 2p, the Great Neck Vigilant Fire Company was dispatched to a reported electrical fire on Chapel Pl. 1st Assistant Chief MacDonald was quickly on scene and transmitted a Signal 10 which was quickly upgraded to a 2nd alarm for active fire in an electrical room in the basement. Engine 835 was first due and began to extinguish and contain the fire while additional crews worked to evacuate residents and checking for fire extension. The fire was quickly brought under control with the assistance of crews from Great Neck Alerts, Manhasset-Lakeville, New Hyde Park, Plandome and Garden City Park. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
