Great Neck Alert House Fire 12/30/2021

On Thursday, December 30th just before 9p, the Great Neck Alert Fire Company was dispatched to a reported house fire on Grassfield Rd. Chief of Department Purcell [829] was quickly on scene with smoke showing and quickly upgraded the alarm to a Signal 10 with active fire inside the house. Engine 824 was first due and stretched the initial line to begin extinguishing the fire. At least 2 lines were stretched to extinguish the fire with the assistance of crews from Great Neck Vigilant and Manhasset-Lakeville. 2 occupants of the house and 1 police officer were evaluated for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
