Just after 6:15pm on January 24th, 2014, the Albertson Fire Department was alerted for a report of a building fire at 154 IU Willets Rd, just down the block from the Firehouse. Upon arrival, Albertson 1st Assistant Chief 802 advised he had a working fire in the Coventry Town Houses. Approximately 30 minutes into the operation, a 3rd alarm was transmitted due to the large volume of fire in the building. Albertson Command also requested the Oyster Bay Line of the Long Island Rail Road be shut down in both directions in order to lay supply line across the tracks.
Multiple Mutual Aid units were requested to assist at the scene due to the large volume of fire and the roof being made of light-weight truss construction. With the large volume of fire, at least 3 tower ladders utilized their ladder pipes to help extinguish the fire.
