West Hempstead Smoke Showing 10/20/2022

On Thursday October 20th just before 3p, the West Hempstead Fire Department was dispatched to smoke in the basement of on Hempstead Tpk across from their headquarters. Chief of Department Brohm [7600] quickly arrived on scene and found smoke from the Bilco doors and a Signal 98 was transmitted. Rescue Engine 762 was first due and stretched 1 line into the basement through clutter conditions to locate and extinguish the fire which was contained to an appliance. With the assistance of crews from Elmont, Hempstead and Lakeview, the fire was quickly placed under control in approximately 20 minutes.
