Roosevelt 2nd Alarm Building Fire 04/06/2021
On Tuesday, April 6th at approximately 1am, the Roosevelt Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a building fire in Nassau Rd. Chief of Department Martin [7300] was quickly on scene and transmitted a Signal 10 which was immediately upgraded to a 2nd alarm with heavy fire from the rear of the 2-story mixed occupancy building with extension to a trailer and vehicles in the rear. Engine 733 and Ladder 735 were first due and began initial searches and attack on the fire. At least 5 lines were stretched and placed into operation on the interior and exterior of the building to extinguish the fire with the assistance of crews from Freeport, Uniondale, Hempstead, Baldwin, Merrick, North Merrick, Elmont, and South Hempstead. The fire was placed under control in approximately 1 hour with extensive overhaul conducted by crews on scene. All occupants of the building were safely evacuated with the assistance of Nassau County PD.
