Hempstead 2nd Alarm Building Fire 03/26/2021

On Friday, March 26th at 5:30p, the Hempstead Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a building fire at Hempstead Ford on North Franklin Ave. Hempstead Truck 1was quickly on the scene and transmitted a Working Fire with fire in the rear garages of the dealership. The fire quickly rose to a second alarm with high winds fueling the fire. With the assistance of mutual aid crews from West Hempstead, Lakeview, Rockville Centre, South Hempstead, Roosevelt and Uniondale, the main body of fire was knocked down in under 45 minutes with at least 4 lines placed into operation. After extensive overhaul, the fire was placed under control in approximately 2 hours. All operations were under the direction of Chief of Department Boles [80].
