North Bellmore Truck vs Bridge with Hazmat 12/20/2021

On Monday, December 20th just before 10p, the North Bellmore Fire Department was dispatched to a reported Truck vs Bridge on the westbound Southern State Parkway in the vicinity of Exit 25. 2nd Assistant Chief Zaharis [6502] was quickly on scene and confirmed a tractor truck struck the Oakfield Ave bridge causing a failure and separation of 1 CNG tank and a leak in the other 3 CNG tanks. Precautionary lines were stretched from E656 and Nassau County Hazmat was requested to the scene to secure the leaking tanks. Units were released from the scene in approximately 45 minutes with all operations under the direction of Chief of Department DiRenzo [6500].
