Merrick House Fire 09/30/2020
On Wednesday at approximately 7:25p, the Merrick Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a house fire on Clubhouse Rd. Multiple units were quickly on the road and while enroute 1st Assistant Chief Gavigan [6401] transmitted a Signal 10. Engine 643 was first due and stretched the initial line to begin an interior attack. Due to the heavy volume of fire, units switched to a defensive operation utilizing at least 3 hand lines as well as the master stream from TL6411. The fire raised to at least a second alarm and was placed under control in under 2 hours with extensive overhaul conducted by crews on scene. 1 Dog was rescued from the fire by firefighters on scene.
