Massapequa House Fire 12/28/2021
On Tuesday, December 28th at 4:34p, the Massapequa Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a house fire with people trapped on Eastlake Ave. 3rd Assistant Chief Friedland [6303] was quickly on the road and with smoke showing from a distance, requested a FAS Team started. Upon his arrival, a Signal 10 was transmitted with heavy fire throughout the house. 2 of the 3 occupants in the house were able to safely evacuate on their own but 1 occupant was still trapped inside but in voice contact with police & firefighters outside. Engine 635 and Ladder 632 were first due and both crews made an aggressive push into the basement of the house allowing for the rescue of the trapped occupant by the crew of Ladder 632. At least 3 landlines were stretched and placed into operation to extinguish the fire with the assistance of crews from South Farmingdale, North Massapequa, and Wantagh. All operations were under the direction of Chief of Department Batt [6300].
