East Meadow House Fire 05/06/2021
On Thursday, May 6th at approximately 8:24p, the East Meadow Fire Department was dispatched to a report of house fire on 7th St. 1st Assistant Chief Cheswick [6101] was quickly on scene and transmitted a Signal 10 (working fire) for fire showing from the side of the house. Engine 612 was first due and while stretching the initial attack line, units encountered a large explosion believed to be from a 100lb propane tank. Firefighters utilized a deck gun to knock down a large volume of fire before continuing with the interior attack. Numerous lines were stretched and placed into operation to knock down the main body of fire which was placed under control in approximately 1 hour.
