East Meadow Building Fire 03/16/2021
On Tuesday March 16th at approximately 11:15p, the East Meadow Fire Department was dispatched to a report of smoke from Ralphs on Carman Ave. Chief of Department Walsh [6100] was quickly on the road and was advised that police were on scene reporting heavy smoke from the building. Upon arrival, Chief Walsh transmitted a Signal 98 and subsequently a Signal 10 with heavy smoke from multiple stores and a confirmed fire in the rear of the laundromat. Engines 613 & 614 along with Westbury Ladder 963 were first due and began stretching the initial attack lines and gaining access to the adjacent storefronts. The main body of fire was found in the laundromat which extended to B&G Delicatessen. Additional mutual aid to the scene was requested from Levittown, Wantagh, Hicksville, Uniondale and North Bellmore. At least 4 lines were stretched to extinguish the fire which was placed under control in approximately 1 hour.
