East Meadow Detached Garage Fire 06/30/2022

On Thursday, June 30th at approximately 10:10a, the East Meadow Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a House fire on Highview Ave. 2nd Assistant Chief Walsh [6102] was quickly on the road and advised he had smoke from the distance. Safety Officer 6155 was quickly on scene and confirmed a fire in a detached garage and a Signal 98 was transmitted. Engine 613 was first due and stretched the initial line to begin extinguishing the fire and protecting the exposure house. In total 2 lines were stretched and placed into operation to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
