East Meadow Smoke Showing 03/25/2022

On Friday, March 25th at 1:15a, the East Meadow Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a building fire at Burger City on Hempstead Turnpike. 2nd Assistant Chief Fertitta [6102] was quickly on the road and advised by Dispatch that a passerby was reporting a fire in the building. Upon arrival, Chief Fertitta had a smoke condition from the building and transmitted a Signal 98 with the fire located in the kitchen of the restaurant. Engine 611 was first due and stretched the initial line into the kitchen to begin extinguishing the fire. In total 2 lines were stretched with the main body of fire contained to the kitchen area. Under the direction of Assistant Chief Cheswick [6101], the fire was placed under control in approximately 30 minutes with overhaul and ventilation conducted by the truck companies. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
