Roslyn 3rd Alarm House Fire 06/18/2022
On Saturday, June 18th at approximately 6p, the Roslyn Rescue & Roslyn Highlands Fire Companies were dispatched to a reported house fire on Jefferson Ave. With members of both companies out of district attending the Bayville Fire Company 100th Anniversary & 5th Battalion Parade, Standby units Engine 937 (Hicksville) and Ladder 403 (East Rockaway) who were covering Roslyn’s district immediately responded alongside Rescue 1st Assistant Chief Collura [5601] and upon arrival, a Signal 10 was transmitted on arrival with heavy fire from the rear of a 2-story house. The fire was quickly raised to a 2nd alarm and then a 3rd alarm with heavy fire on all floors of the house being fueled by high winds. Crews utilized at least 4 hand lines to extinguish the fire on all floors. With the assistance of crews from Albertson, Inwood (Acting Sea Cliff Ladder), Oceanside (Acting Glenwood Engine), Westbury, Jericho, Mineola, Williston Park, East Williston, Carle Place, Garden City Park, Garden City, Bethpage and New Hyde Park, the fire was knocked down and placed under control in approximately 75 minutes with extensive overhaul conducted by crews on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
