Roslyn Building Fire 04/30/2020

On Thursday April 30th at approximately 1:45p, the Roslyn Rescue and Roslyn Highlands Fire Companies responded to a report of a building fire at the Shibley Day Camp in Roslyn Heights. Chiefs from both companies were quickly on the road and requested the 1st alarm assignment while enroute with a few calls received. Rescue 2nd Assistant Chief Collura [5602] arrived on scene and transmitted a signal 10 (working fire) for a fire in a 2 story building on the property. Crews quickly arrived on scene and found heavy fire in the rear of the building. The fire was escalated to a 2nd alarm with 4 lines stretched and 3 placed into operation. The fire was placed under control in approximately 1 hour with the assistance of mutual aid crews.
