Funeral for Oyster Bay Co. 1 Ex-Chief Bennett 02/11/2022

On Friday, February 11th, the Oyster Bay Fire Company No. 1 laid to rest Ex-Chief George R Bennett. A 57-year member of the Company, Ex-Chief Bennett joined the company in January of 1965, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. After spending 4 years in the U.S. Air Force, Ex-Chief Bennett rose through the company ranks and became Chief of Department from 1984-1985. Ex-Chief Bennett was also an active member of the Teddy’s Boys Drill Team, racing with the team during their 1974 State Championship where he broke the C Hose State Record as nozzleman.
