Glenwood Car vs Pole with Fire 05/13/2022
On Friday, May 13th just before 11:15p, the Glenwood Fire Company & Locust Valley Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a car vs pole at the intersection of Piping Rock Rd and Locust Ln. Numerous units from both departments were quickly on scene and found a car through a pole with live wires down and around the vehicle which was beginning to smoke. PSE&G was requested to secure the down power lines and while awaiting their arrival, the vehicle caught fire and became fully engulfed. After PSE&G arrived on scene and de-energized the power lines, The crew of Engine 542 assisted by Rescue 534 stretched 1 line to extinguish the car fire. The driver of the vehicle was able to safely exit the vehicle prior to fire department arrival and was uninjured. Under the direction of Glenwood Chief of Department Riccardo [5300] all units were released from the scene in approximately 75 minutes.
