Lawrence-Cedarhurst House Fire 02/04/2021
On Thursday February 4th at 12:15a, the Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Inwood and Woodmere Fire Departments were dispatched to a report of a building fire on Seagirt Ave in Lawrence. Lawrence-Cedarhurst 2nd Assistant Chief Adler [3202] was quickly on the scene and transmitted a Signal 10 (working fire) for fire in a 1 story house. Engine 323 was first due and immediately encountered multiple buried, blocked and frozen hydrants. As the exposure 2 house was just over the city line, a 10-75 was transmitted for Box 1036 by L134 bringing in additional FDNY units to assist. Multiple units worked together to establish a water source with FDNY E328 ultimately supplying LCFD E323. Due to the water issues and an early roof collapse, defensive operations were conducted with numerous handlines and Tower Ladder Master streams placed into operation. The fire was placed under control in under 3 hours.
