LCFD/MPFD Building & Truck Fire 02/28/2018

On Wednesday, February 28th, at just after 3:30pm, the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department was dispatched to the intersection of Peninsula Blvd & Rockaway Turnpike for a truck fire. Meadowmere Park Fire Department 333A was first on scene confirming a tractor trailer fire on Plaza Rd in Meadowmere Park's District. Engine 335 was first due and began extinguishing the fire involving an 18-wheeler and 3 other trucks. With the large volume of fire, a residential building on Peninsula Blvd directly behind the truck fire began to catch fire and LCFD Chief 3201 transmitted a Signal 10 for that address. Both departments operated together to extinguish both the Truck Fire and the Building Fire. Both fires were quickly extinguished by crews on scene. Nassau County Fire Marshals Hazmat Unit was also requested to the scene in addition to other mutual aid units.
