Floral Park Buidling Fire 09/27/2020

On Sunday, September 27th at approximately 6:30am, the Floral Park Fire Department was dispatched to a report of smoke coming from the building on Covert Ave. Floral Park Chiefs quickly arrived on scene and quickly transmitted a 2nd alarm for multiple storefronts on fire. Units initially attempted an interior attack but soon switched to a defensive attack due to the large volume of fire across multiple storefronts. Multiple Tower Ladders and master streams were setup across the row of taxpayers to extinguish the stubborn fire which damaged at least 5 stores. The fire rose to at least a 3rd alarm and took over 4 hours to be extinguished with extensive overhaul conducted by crews on scene. At least 20 mutual aid departments assisted in the extinguishment of this fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshals Office.
